In an Q&A posted on Nokia’s Conversations blog, Nokia said most WP8 Lumia owners will have the Nokia Black update on their phones by the end of the month, which is only a few days away.

In response to a question about the Nokia Lumia 928 on Verizon, they posted:

A. While many Lumias have already benefitted, the Nokia Black Update continues to roll out. Nearly all will have it by the end of January. Bear in mind that, for some models and regions, the timing of the update will be dependent on the localised network carrier.

Your Nokia Lumia will automatically check for updates every week, and will notify you if Black is ready for your phone. Alternatively, go to Settings > Phone update and manually check. If it is available, you’ll be able to download and install it straight from that screen.

A recent update from AdDuplex indicated only 15% of Windows Phone 8 users had GDR3 on their handsets, but it is likely the roll-out will now accelerate very rapidly to include most Windows Phone 8 handsets.

Besides the GDR3 updates, Lumia Black brings:

  • App Folder
  • Nokia Glance screen 2.0.
  • Bluetooth LE support.
  • Nokia Refocus.
  • Nokia Beamer.
  • Nokia Storyteller.
  • Nokia Camera.

Some features are reserved for handsets with 1GB RAM unfortunately.

Nokia suggests anxious users keep an eye on their status page here for more.
