Microsoft has sold of or shuttered all of their phone factories, and last year’s Lumia Windows 10 phones have all but sold out of the market after a number of massive fire sales.

While Microsoft has continued to develop Windows 10 Mobile, they have also become laser-focussed on the enterprise market, so it is somewhat of a surprise to see the company intends to attend the world’s biggest mobile phone trade show, Mobile World Congress, usually held in Barcelona around the end of Q1 2017.

The news is via a single purpose website, msmwcmeetings.com, Microsoft set up only 10 days ago to arrange meetups with other industry players.

Of course that’s around the same time as the Creator’s update is being released for Windows 10 and possible Windows 10 Mobile, and Microsoft may be there to try and sell the OS to OEMs and ODMs.

Or maybe Microsoft will finally reveal the elusive Surface Phone, for release at the end of the year.

At this point we are of course simply speculating, but what is clear is that despite no longer selling any phones, Microsoft is not quite finished with the phone business.
