London created WP7 ‘Love Clean London” grime reporting app

With the 2012 London Olympics just round the corner the Mayor is looking to clean up his city, and has recruited Windows Phone 7 users to help.

The Love Clean London Windows Phone 7 app makes it easier for Londoners to report environmental crimes, receive feedback from London boroughs on progress and save London boroughs money.

The app needs only 3 simple steps:

1) See the problem and take a photo.

2) Check the location (which is detected for you automatically)

3) Pick a report category, and submit

The system gives people an easy way to help their borough keep communities clean, receive prompt action when a report is sent and help boroughs direct their resources to the areas that need them most. An interactive map on the web portal shows all the reports, updating on the progress taken. The website shows environmental black-spots and also places where clean ups have taken place either by councils or volunteers.

Love Clean London is built on "Azure" – cloud computing technology from Microsoft. The website was developed by Microsoft certified partner bbits and features an interactive map using the latest Microsoft Silverlight browser plug-in and Bing Maps for Enterprise to show reports in real time – all of which is hosted in the cloud. The system can be fully integrated into local authority systems using the Microsoft .NET Framework, ensuring that issues can be dealt with smoothly and allowing developers to create their own applications to submit and retrieve reports.

The Love Clean London app can be downloaded for free from Marketplace here.
