LG may drop the front-facing camera notch which has been the staple of their flagship handsets in recent years and adopt a Samsung-like punch-hole camera design.
Uncovered by LetsGoDigital, a March 2019 design patent published by the KIPO (Korean Intellectual Property Office) shows a fully-formed device with an oval punch hole containing a camera and two other sensors. LGD speculates that the sensors could be infra-red or Time of Flight sensors which can be used for FaceID and depth-based selfies.
The device is otherwise a now standard full-bleed handset with narrow margins similar to the LG G8 ThinQ and the V50 ThinQ.
It is not clear when the device will hit the market, but given the detailed designs patented by the company, it is pretty clear that this will be sooner rather than later.
