After plenty of rumors and leaks, Lenovo finally launched the Z5 today at Computex 2018. Unfortunately, the device comes with both notch and a chin and doesn’t have a 95% screen-to-body ratio as promised.
This all started when Lenovo’s mobile group product manager Chang Cheng shared a sketch on Weibo showing off a beautiful design with no notch or chin. Chang also shared another photo and asked the fans to get the screen-to-body ratio of the device. Moreover, when Lenovo sent out invites for the launch last week, the company had an edge-to-edge display device on the background of the invite. All these subtle hints let everyone believe that Lenovo might be launching their first device without notch.
However, all this when in vain when the company actually launched the device earlier today with both notch and chin. On the bright side, Lenovo did mention that their notch is narrower than iPhone X (in case you really care about this). The display is a 6.2-inch 19:9 IPS LCD screen and comes with a dual-camera setup on the back. Both the cameras on the back are 16-MP and the device comes with 64 GB storage onboard. Lenovo Z5 is priced at 1,299 yuan ($200) and will be available starting June 12th.
