Riot Games has reached an impressive number of concurrent players in their popular MOBA League of Legends.
After ten years of dominating online multiplayer, the Riot Games MOBA has reached a massive milestone of 8 million concurrent players per day.
Announced through an official blog post, the developer took these stats as the calculated peak concurrent users in all official regions during August. There could very well be even more players in unsupported regions.
“Every day we see about 8 million peak concurrent players in League,” Riot announced. “That makes League the biggest PC game in the world—it’s even bigger than the top ten games on Steam combined. Together, we’ve built a thriving community around the world, and we want to show our appreciation for all of you. If you’re not able to catch the celebration on October 15th, don’t worry. We’ll rebroadcast the livestream throughout the following day.”
To celebrate the game’s 10th anniversary, Riot has also announced an all-new logo for the game. It’s cleaner, blockier and, well, it’s pretty nice. I imagine some won’t enjoy it, but it’s quite pretty.
