Korea’s SK Telecom confirms Windows Phone 7 models for second half 2011

sk-telecomWe have heard a variety of people talk about it, and now SK Telecom, Korea’s number 1 carrier, has confirmed they will be releasing a Windows Phone 7 device supporting Korean in the second half of 2011.

“The new generation of smartphones we will launch this year come with several revolutionary technologies that set them apart from existing smartphones,” said Jang Dong-hyun, SKT’s chief marketing officer. “Sales of smartphones will outnumber sales of non-smartphones this year.”

Korean smartphones are set to feature a dazzling feature set, including 3D screens and electronic wallets.

Windows Phone 7 handsets supporting far eastern scripts have so far had to wait for later in 2011, and the update which brings support may be part of the new WP7.5 Mango platform.
