Prior to the release of the Microsoft KIN handsets there were rumours that the handset software were largely unfinished, and while the Microsoft has attempted to sell the software deficits as a strong focus on social networking, their lack of features have not gone unnoticed.
Microsoft has however promised the KIN handsets will get updates that will bring new features, and djguapo in our comment section revealed some of the improvements we can expect, told to him by an unnamed source:
I cannot reveal my source, but I’ve spoken to someone who knows that 3 updates are coming to KIN in the following months. Among bugfixes, they are set to bring Facebook/Myspace/Twitter notifications, they will add a calendar, and performance improvements.
Hopefully the updates will address the majority of complaints expressed about missing twitter features (e.g. lack of twit pics and ability to retweet) and of course the OS was widely criticized for lacking a calendar. Unfortunately the lack of a mention of a IM client, one of the major features of the Sidekick platform, remains disappointing, but of course just because it’s not mentioned in the leak does not mean it will not be coming.
Of course the content of this rumour is completely unverified, so we are all free to add whatever we want to a future KIN update. What do our readers think Microsoft should add to rescue to KIN? Let us know below.
