Vodafone Spain released the first Windows Phone with a Joyn RCS-e client built in.

The first handset was expected to be the Nokia Lumia 920 on Telefonica, but it turned out to be the Nokia Lumia 720, which Vodafone said went through a rigorous certification process.

 Joyn RCS-e service provide chat, file transfer and video chat functionality, and will be interoperable with Vodafone, Telefonica, Orange and other carriers. Much like SMS and WhatsApp, it is the carrier’s own messaging service, and due to being built into the infra-structure is expected to offer reliability and quality of service improvements over current over the top solutions.

Vodafone Spain is offers the Lumia 720 at 49 Euro per month on a 24 months contract. Read more about the offer at  WindowsPhoneApps.es.
