In an interview with AllthingsD Windows Phone VP Joe Belfiore rejected criticism that they are not adding features to Windows Phone fast enough.
“The work we are doing is valuable, and a lot of people aren’t aware of it,” Belfiore said in an interview.
He noted that much of the work was directed at the foundation of Windows Phone, to add support for technology which will allow the OS to expand its market share, and therefore often only show up in new devices.
The latest update for example brings support 1080P screens found in the hottest new phone segment, phablets.
He noted that expanding the market did not just benefit new users, but also existing users by making it more likely developers will consider Windows Phone when creating their applications and games.
He noted Windows Phone was now outselling the iPhone in India and Latin America.
In these places, Belfiore said, “the market dynamics play better to what we are good at.”
“We’re small, but growing fast,” Belfiore said. “We’ll take it.”
