Is an Orientation Lock coming to Windows Phone 7?

An anonymous tipster has sent us the above picture, which appears to depict a lock button in the Windows Phone 7 drop-down volume control area.

The effect of the button is an orientation lock – i.e. the screen does not auto-rotate anymore, something which can be particularly annoying if you want to read in bed.

The screen shot appears to have been taken on a HTC HD7 running a post-NoDo build, given the location of the address bar.

As usual we can not vouch for the authenticity of the pictures, but if true, it is both a nice feature and a welcome development that Microsoft is making better use of the music transport control area.  Now just put the time, battery indicator and WIFI and Bluetooth indicators there also!

Thanks to our anonymous tipster.
