IO Interactive A/S (or IOI), the Danish studio most well known for the Hitman franchise, have opened up a new studio in Malmö, Sweden.
A statement from Hakan Abrak, CEO of IO Interactive, says that IOI are ‘super excited and proud’ to announce the new studio and looking forward to bringing their own unique IOI culture to the town.
Along with promising new exceptional content for the Hitman series, Abrak also says that the new studio will help in creating ‘brand-new and exciting endeavors, new universes, [and] new franchises’.
The new Malmö studio is already fully operational and IOI believe the studio has the potential to become the ‘epicentre of game development in Scandinavia’.
IO Interactive is a video game developer based in Copenhagen and founded in September of 1998. As of 2016, the studio employs 170 people. Their latest release was Hitman 2 for Windows, PlayStation4, and Xbox One in November of 2018.
