Instagram now lets you share stories with close friends only

Instagram Stories is getting a bit more private today, for users who want to be.

Facebook is adding a new ‘Close Friends category in Instagram which lets you choose who you share your Stories with as opposed to the previous all or nothing proposition.

“Instagram Stories has become the place to express yourself and share everyday moments, but our community has grown and sometimes what you want to share isn’t for everyone.” Instagram’s blog post states,  “With Close Friends, you have the flexibility to share more personal moments with a smaller group that you choose.”

If a user adds you to their friend list, you’ll see a green ring around their Story ring, same with you adding a story. The close friends list is private to you, and no one else can see it nor can ask to be added to it. Instagram will be rolling out Close Friends support to iOS and Android from today onwards with an app update.
