Reliance Communications (RCom) announced a partnership today with Microsoft to offer a special data plan and services for its Windows Mobile customers.
RCom is offering a special data plan with 200 MB for Rs 95 (around $2) per month to Windows Mobile subscribers. In return Microsoft will offer Windows Mobile solutions to RCom customers, including push email support, chat, photo-sharing, content back-up and other applications.
"Our tie-up with Microsoft is part of our overall strategy to strengthen our market share in the fast growing smartphone segment. By offering the Windows Mobile Solution, we will be able to address a wider customer base in this segment," said RCom Head (Wireless Data Business) Vrajesh Shelat.
Reliance Communication is currently India’s second largest carrier, with more than 83 million subscribers, and the company aims to push this up to 100 million by the end of this year.
The burgeoning Indian market has long been a target of Microsoft, who has launched a number of promotional campaigns for Windows Mobile there.
We will leave our readers with this example by Microsoft India which never fails to amuse me 🙂
