In Windows Phone 8.1, Microsoft really wants you to keep your WIFI on

Windows Phone 8.1 has a new feature, recently revealed by an unlocked version of the WP8.1 emulator, which shows Microsoft really wants you to keep WIFI on.

In Windows Phone 8.1, when you toggle WIFI off, the OS will now allow you to automatically turn the WIFI back on again later, with a default of one hour.

Keeping WIFI on should save 3 and 4G data, and by using a lower energy wireless communication technology will also save battery life.

Interestingly WP 8.1 will now also allow users to choose whether WIFI stays on behind the lock screen or not.  It has been shown repeatedly that it is most optimal to leave WIFI on in terms saving battery life, but it seems Windows Phone 8.1 is about nothing if not about giving users choices.

With a WIFI toggle being easily accessible from the action centre, do our readers think this feature is worthwhile? Let us know below.
