Ikea’s dramatically cheap smart blinds were meant to hit the market in February in Europe and 1st April in USA, but expectant users may have noticed that the smart home device has been nowhere to be found.
Now Ikea has announced that the blinds have been delayed while Ikea updates its software for improved features.
Ikea reports that the device has been delayed due to an “an opportunity for improved functionality,” and that the blinds will now launch with support for Ikea’s Trådfri smart home app, which includes Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant support.
The battery-operated smart blinds, which at 99 and 119 euro are significantly cheaper than rival smart home blinds, are expected later this year, with Ikea France suggesting an August arrival date.
