While Netflix bumped up its prices, competing solution Hulu has lowered its own prices–well, for the cheapest tier. This means that users will now be able to sign on to Hulu with a $5.99 per month price plan as opposed to $7.99 with commercials to further subsidise their viewing. The timing is –according to Variety— a coincidence and not intentional. Hulu is aiming to attract new customers to its services and had, in fact, launched a similar offer between October and November of 2016.
It’s worth noting that this isn’t a permanent decrease, but its a temporary offer aimed at new customers. After the first year, Hulu will bump it back up to $7.99 a month, [resumably you’ll be too hooked on Hulu exclusives to notice, The promotion will be available until January 9, 2018.
