Huawei releases 3D scanning app for Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro

Almost a month ago, Huawei launched Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro which came with a tech Microsoft showcased a couple of years back. Powered by Kirin 980 SoC, and up to 6GB of RAM, the device was capable of capturing and rendering 3D objects. Huawei showcased the tech on stage but unfortunately, the app wasn’t made available to the public.

However, Huawei has finally released the app for the public and Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro owners can now try it out. The app will allow users to scan real-world objects and create a 3D avatar of the same. To make a 3D avatar, users will need to scan the app from different angles so the app captures the object from all the sides and render a 3D avatar of it.

As fun as it sounds, the technology is still fresh and fails at times but users of Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro should give it a shot. Huawei will improve it over time using data and feedback from the users which should increase the accuracy as well as the performance of the app.
