At the Mate 30 launch event, Huawei has launched the new Watch GT 2 as well. The new smartwatch is the successor to the original Watch GT and it comes with Huawei’s very own LiteOS.
The Watch GT 2 comes in two sizes: 42mm and 46mm, and has curved 3D AMOLED display with a resolution of 390 x 390 and 454 x 454 respectively. The device is powered by a Kirin A1 SoC and this time, the watch also has 5 ATM water resistance rating. Huawei has also improved the software and it now comes with 15 fitness modes, each with multiple options. The watch also includes features like compass, torch, workout records, and barometer. Apart from that, Huawei has also included a heart rate sensor which scans for heart failure and bradycardia. The senor will sound an alert if it detects your bpm falling below 50 for more than 10 minutes. It will also sound an alert if bpm goes over 100 provided you’re sitting down and not exercising or walking.
In terms of battery, Huawei claims that the watch can go two weeks on a single charge. This, of course, applies to the larger variant while the smaller one can go about a week on a single charge. The watch even comes with a mic and speaker so you can make calls directly from the watch. Moreover, Huawei has also added a 2 GB flash memory which can handle up to 500 songs.
The Watch GT 2 will cost €249 for the 46mm model and €229 for 42mm variant and will be available from October. Huawei hasn’t disclosed the countries which will be getting the new Watch GT 2.
