It seems there is life after Google Play services after all, as Huawei reports strong sales of its Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro after the launch of its handset in China.
The device does not use Android AOSP ROM with Huawei’s EMUI 10 UI in the domestic market, and Huawei reports it has sold more than 1 million handsets in only 3 hours, with the device sold out online.
Of course, Huawei never used Google services in Cina in any case, and going by the queues for the device pictured above, the company enjoys strong support in China in part because consumers there feel the company is being unfairly targetted by the USA.
Huawei is targetting 20 million sales for the handsets, but interest is likely to be extremely muted in the west due to the lack of the Google Play Store and many standard apps such as Facebook and YouTube. The news is, however, a reminder that there are 1.4 billion people in China, which should help the company weather the adversity.
