HTC to start testing LTE hardware from October 2010

LTE_logoHTC has always been on the fore-front of new technology, including the fist WIMAX smartphone (the HTC Max 4G).

Digitimes now reports that HTC will start testing new LTE hardware at Far EasTone Telecommunications new TD-LTE test network.

TD-LTE is the version of LTE that would be compatible with WIMAX base-stations which have been converted to LTE, and therefore a contender for Sprint’s WIMAX networks eventual transition to the increasingly popular global standard.

Is is also the version being developed by China Mobile Communications for upgrading its TD-SCDMA, a China-developed 3G standard.  China is becoming an increasingly important market for HTC, who has recently introduced its own brand there in place of its Dopod subsidiary.
