PCMag had a hands-on with the new Windows Phone 7.5 handsets by HTC and managed to run some browser benchmarks on the devices.

They show that the 50% faster processor on the HTC Titan results in about 50% higher performance in both the BrowserMark and Sunspider tests.

They also ran Cro-Mag Rally, and noticed on the HTC Titan the frame rate was noticeably higher, making for much smoother background animation. They found while the game was perfectly playable on the Radar, the background was a bit jerky compared to the Titan.

Interestingly the scores for the HTC Radar running at 1 Ghz and the HTC Trophy at the same speed (both running Mango) are more or less equivalent, despite the newer generation processor.

Even on the HTC Titan the scores lag the iPhone 4, which is running at a significantly slower clock speed, showing Microsoft needs to do even more work on the JavaScript rendering in Windows Phone 7.5.

The short of it however is that HTC Radar purchasers should not expect  major boost in performance compared to current generation Windows Phone 7 handsets.
