HTC Scaling Up To Ship 60 Million Devices Next Year

HTC, one of the largest manufacturer of Windows Mobile, Windows Phone and Android Devices is anticipating a three fold growth  of units shipped over the  next year 2011. I assume  HTC would have shipped close to 20 million units this year as projected by them. According to Digitimes, HTC has told its suppliers that it will need parts and components for the production of up to 60 million handsets.

HTC executives revealed its roadmap for 2011 while the company was holding a summit with more than 200 executives from over 100 suppliers of handset parts and components recently in Taipei, the sources indicated.

The rise in adoption of Android devices around the world and the new strong contender in smartphone arena Windows Phone 7 based devices may be the reason behind HTC’s such strong estimates.  Windows Phone 7 is still estimated to sell around 30 million handsets next year, and despite HTC no longer being the number one Windows Phone 7 OEM is still expected to be a strong player in the new market.
