HTC: Nokia deal “will not change our commitment to Microsoft”

htc16Florian Seiche, HTC’s Europe head has told Reuters Microsoft’s deal with Nokia for the phone giant to adopt Windows Phone 7 as its primary operating system would be good for the OS and also good for HTC.

"The long-term opportunity with Nokia entering will definitely bring Windows back to critical mass," Seiche said at the Global Technology Summit at the Reuters office in Paris.

"With a new player entering, it should actually help to elevate the relevance of that platform … we actually feel that we should be able to benefit." he said.

Responding to rumours that existing Windows Phone OEMs would abandon the platform due to Nokia getting preferential treatment, Florian confirmed this was not the case.

"It will not change our commitment to Microsoft," he said.

HTC is rumoured to be releasing at least 3 new Windows Phones this year.
