HTC aims to sell 14.5 million smartphones in 2009

Forget the recession – HTC aims to sell 20% more handhelds in 2009 than 2008, upping shipments from 12 million to 14.5 this year.

Peter Chou, CEO of  HTC, announced the ambitious goal at a  press briefing. Smartphones have seen hot and growing sales in the face of a declining mobile phone market, that is expected to lose 5-10% of sales this year.
