According to HTC CEO Peter Chou HTC aims to be one of the top 3-5 handset vendors in the global market. The HTC boss is quoted in the Chinese language Commercial Times. Seeing how the global market is larger than 1 billion phones, Digitimes rightly points out this is rather ambitious. Third-placed Motorola shipped more than 100 million phones last year and firth-placed Sony Ericsson more than 90 million. HTC is only aiming to ship 15 million this year.
But I guess each company should have a dream, and certainly HTC’s naked ambition contrasts with Steve Jobs, who only aimed to have 1% of the global phone market, an aim HTC achieved some time ago.
