It turns out that Team Cherry have been secretly working away on a sequel to the exemplary Metroidvania game Hollow Knight.

A blog post from Team Cherry revealed all the details. The sequel is called Hollow Knight: Silksong and is a ‘full-scale’ sequel.

The main character of Silksong is a princess-protector of Hallownest called Hornet. Hornet is captured and taken to an unfamiliar land and must use all her wit and cunning to defeat enemies, beat puzzles, and make her way to the kingdom’s peak.

Team Cherry say that Hornet’s adventure was intended to take place in a new land ‘almost from the very start’, but they quickly realised their plans were too large and too unique to stay as just DLC.

Hollow Knight: Silksong will be available on Windows, Mac, Linux, and Nintendo Switch from launch. Team Cherry say they won’t rule out the possibility of Silksong coming to more platforms, but politely ask us to remember that they’re only 3 people.

Kickstarter supporters of the original Hollow Knight will receive a copy of Hollow Knight: Silksong for ‘100% free’. The only catch is that if you pledged more than $10AUD, you can choose to get a free copy on either PC or Nintendo Switch.

Higher tier backers who originally received multiple copies of Hollow Knight will receive multiple copies of Silksong. You can have one copy on either Switch or PC, with the remaining copies all being PC versions. All PC copies will be supplied as both a Steam Key and a DRM free version.
