Everything you need to know from EA Play 2017

EA Play 2017, the publisher’s annual event for E3, took place in Los Angeles today. The company showcased a number of titles and had some surprises up there sleeves…well, some surprises that hadn’t leaked that is. Here’s everything you need to know from their event. EA has a lot of quality experiences coming out in 2017 and beyond.

Madden NFL 18

This year, the latest entry in the Madden franchise has a story mode which looks rather compelling. Madden NFL 18: Long Shot focuses on an African-American players rise to stardom. The cutscenes showcased during the trailer looked phenomenal and really blew us away.

Battlefield 1

There are over 20 million Battlefield 1 players currently. New maps and other enhancements to the game are coming in September.

eSports

EA discussed how important eSports are and how their games have produced many champions, particularly in FIFA. These events are becoming increasingly popular and are a way for many people to make a living. If you’re good, you can even make hundreds of thousands.

FIFA 18

EA revealed a brand new trailer for FIFA 18. It features even better visuals. Best of all, Story Mode returns. Over 360 million goals were made in FIFA 17 so the addition to the franchise turned out to be quite popular.

Need for Speed Payback

EA revealed gorgeous new gameplay from Need for Speed Payback. The title looks exceptional and hopefully features improved driving mechanics.

A Way Out

The developers of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, the incredibly moving twin-stick game, are back with another title. A Way Out is basically Prison Break: The Game. It features the same mechanics—you control two people at the same time from it seems—but it’s much more intense. No one said breaking out of jail would be easy! A Way Out is coming out in 2018.

SEED

SEED is a team at EA which is always looking for new gaming concepts. The heads of the company work with SEED on a regular basis.

Project Scorpio

EA praised Project Scorpio and discussed how it can accomplish true 4K visuals. They then went on to talk about Madden NFL 18 and showcased some gorgeous screenshots. From what it seems, it looks like Madden NFL 18 runs at native 4K on Project Scorpio. However, we’ll know more about its visuals at Microsoft’s E3 press conference tomorrow.

Anthem

Anthem is BioWare’s new game which is coming to Xbox One and Project Scorpio. We should know more about the title at Microsoft’s E3 press conference tomorrow. It looks like Microsoft has marketing rights to the game. It might even be an exclusive but we aren’t sure at this point. Plus, from what we understand the game runs at native 4K on Project Scorpio.

NBA Live 18

NBA Live 18 was announced. It looks like EA wants to challenge 2K Games again. Let’s see if they do better this time because the previous entries in the NBA Live franchise have been absolute disappointments.

EA Access

EA Access is going free for a week to celebrate EA Play 2017.

Star Wars: Battlefront II

EA revealed a lot of gameplay footage from Star Wars: Battlefront II. It’s mostly the same footage which leaked this morning. All of the game’s expansions will be free too. It’ll probably be supported through microtransactions though so don’t get too excited.

That was it for EA Play 2017. There were a lot of announcements, Anthem was definitely the most intriguing of them all. The conference wasn’t EA’s best one but it definitely got us intrigued. Hopefully many of the questions about Anthem and Madden NFL 18—particularly how they perform on Project Scorpio—will be answered tomorrow.
