Despite the improvements that came with Mango, it has long been pretty clear Microsoft’s Live Tiles are a lot more alive than those of 3rd party developers

Fiinix from XDA-Developers was not going to let that lie, and has created the DllImport project, which allows developers with just one line to create tiles which are just as alive and interactive as the native ones.

The video above shows the full range of capabilities available to developers, and we have already seen one of the fruit of his work, with the Battery Live Tile app.

Of course these apps will never hit marketplace, but hopefully at some point Microsoft will loosen the bonds for regular developers also.
