Greg Sullivan speaks about their strategy to grow Windows Phone

Bloomberg spoke to Greg Sullivan, senior product manager for Windows Phone, about the latest IDC numbers and Microsoft’s plans to grow the share of the operating system.

He called passing Blackberry “a step along the way” and said Microsoft had a strategy of gaining share by attacking both the low end and high end of the market, and also drawing new users from those who still use feature phones.

He interestingly showed one weakness in Microsoft’s strategy – seeing only two markets – USA and the rest of the world.  Given that USA is one of the smaller Windows Phone markets one would hope for a more nuanced view of the world – both Hulu and Pandora is pretty useless outside USA for example.
