On May 20, 2025, Google launched Canvas Quizzes in its Gemini app. This new feature allows users to turn any uploaded document or written prompt into an interactive quiz.
Users can input a file or type directly in Canvas, and Gemini will generate multiple-choice or true/false questions. The tool provides instant feedback and hints to help users better understand the content. These quizzes work across all languages and regions where Gemini is available.

The feature targets personal account holders aged 18 and up. People using Google Workspace—both in business and education—can still view shared Canvas content but won’t be able to edit or refine it. That means if a user on a personal account shares a quiz, a Workspace user can read it, but won’t have access to Gemini features like content updates or feedback customization.
This release builds on Canvas’s existing capabilities, like mind maps and slide generation. It positions the app as a more dynamic space for self-directed learning, where users can test and reinforce knowledge on the fly. Gemini Canvas Quizzes are live now, directly in the Gemini app, with no extra cost for eligible users.
