Google: Windows Phone Doesn’t Have “A Critical Mass Of Users” To Develop YouTube App

Google Sundar Pichai

Speaking at D11 conference, Google SVP Sundar Pichai told Walt that Windows Phone doesn’t have a critical mass of users to make them develop a YouTube app. He however didn’t rule of the possibility of making Google apps for Windows Phone devices in the future. He said that Google want to reach as many people as possible, for platforms that don’t have that many users at scale, we have great HTML5 apps.

“If they get more users, we will make apps”

Microsoft recently made a smart move by releasing its own YouTube app for Windows Phone devices and then making Google to support it officially by providing proper APIs.
