Google has rolled out two important updates for Google Voice. These include support for three-way calling and a redesigned in-call user interface. The new features aim to improve communication and make the app easier to use.

Users of three-way calling can combine two calls and talk with three people simultaneously. This helps in situations like adding a translator, involving legal counsel, or making smoother call transfers. To start a three-way call, users can simply tap “Add” to select a contact and then “Merge” to join the calls.

The in-call interface has also received a major refresh. It now offers a cleaner design and a layout similar to Google Meet. Key call controls like the keypad and mute button are clearly visible. Other functions like hold, transfer, and merge are easy to find and use. Notifications, such as a participant being on hold, now appear at the top of the screen.

These updates are available from May 1, 2025. Three-way calling is offered to users with Voice Starter, Standard, or Premier subscriptions, as well as SIP Link Standard and Premier users. The new interface is available to all Google Voice users. Google aims to make calling more efficient and intuitive with these changes.
