May 20, 2025 — Google TV has crossed 270 million monthly active devices, and Google isn’t slowing down. It’s adding Gemini AI to make voice searches more conversational and useful. Ask for movies like Jurassic Park, and Gemini will recommend similar titles from your installed apps. It can also answer general questions with video results, like helping kids understand the solar system.
Developers can now use the new Video Discovery API, which improves content visibility through features like “Continue Watching,” entitlement syncing, and personalized recommendations. That “Continue Watching” row alone drives 60% of user interactions.
