Proving that Google does actually pay some attention to the PC platform, the company has just announced an update to their Google Drive sync client for Windows and Mac which brings new functionality to the software.
Posting on their blog, the company announced a new product, Backup and Sync from Google, which is a new version of Google Drive for Mac/PC which is now integrated with the Google Photos desktop uploader. The app is intended to help everyday users back up files and photos from their computers, so they’re safe and accessible from anywhere.
The app will not be a direct upgrade for the Google Drive client, as Google wants to release a separate app for enterprise Google Drive customers. Instead, regular home Google Drive users will need to download the new Backup and Sync client, which will, however, assume the settings of the old Google Drive app, which it becomes available on the 28th June 2017.
Google Drive offers 5 GB of storage free and offers a number of innovative photo tools which will automatically transform your pictures into collages, gifs and more.
Keep an eye on the site to be notified of the availability of the new app.
