Google Chrome’s new lazy loading feature will improve page loading times

Google Chrome has introduced a new experimental feature called lazy loading in Chrome Canary builds. When this feature is enabled, Chrome will only load all the elements that are visible on screen. Not loading the images and iframes that are below user’s view will lead to improved page loading times and performance. When user scrolls the web page, Chrome will then download other images and iframes. When enabled on mobile, this feature will save lot of data for users.

You can enable this feature in Chrome Canary build v70.0.3521.0 and above using the following flags:

  • chrome://flags/#enable-lazy-image-loading
  • chrome://flags/#enable-lazy-frame-loading
