On May 21, 2025, Google launched in-app ratings and reviews for Android TV apps. The update lets users rate and review apps without exiting them, streamlining feedback for developers and increasing visibility for quality apps.

Until now, Android TV users had to visit the Play Store manually to leave reviews. This step often discouraged engagement. Google’s new system fixes that. It brings the TV platform closer to the mobile experience, where in-app ratings have driven better user feedback and app improvements.

To start, Google will roll out this feature to select Android TV and Google TV devices. Developers don’t need to change their code. The system uses a server-side update, automatically enabling the review dialog where appropriate.

The in-app prompt won’t interrupt users. Google says it triggers based on usage patterns and only appears after meaningful interactions. Each user sees it only a limited number of times.

Developers can track responses through Play Console metrics just like on mobile. Google also encourages using the Core Library to check if the prompt triggered successfully,With this update, Android TV catches up to mobile standards, making it easier for users to shape app quality directly from their screens.
