After few delays, Microsoft finally launched their Xbox One console last year in China. The console is priced at ¥3,699 RMB. Microsoft and its partner BesTV revealed that more than 25 developers are building more than 70 games for Xbox One including exclusive content, free to play games, and blockbuster titles. But during the launch, only 10 game titles were available to buy for the gamers. Microsoft was struggling to get popular Xbox One game titles such as Call of Duty, Destiny, etc for the Chinese customers because the regulators are wary of violent content. However, Microsoft promised that over 70 game titles are in the works for Chinese gamers and these games will be released in the coming months.
Today, Sony has announced that they are delaying the launch of PS4 in China due to issues related to getting approval from Chinese regulators for various game titles. Sony has said it is in the process of applying for licences for 30 games. The company has sought to head off censorship concerns, saying it is working closely with the government.
Sony’s Computer Entertainment division said a new sale date had not yet been determined, but a company source in China told Reuters that prolonged negotiations with Chinese authorities were part of the reason for the delay.
PS4 launch delay is an added advantage for Xbox One in China. Hopefully, Microsoft will take advantage of it to increase the sales of Xbox One.
