At yesterday’s Samsung Developer Conference the company took pains to make it clear that their new more user-friendly user interface, OneUI,  will be coming to the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Note 9, which suggested that it will not be coming to the S8 and Note 8.

Now TomsGuide reports that they have confirmed this with Samsung representatives at the conference, saying:

“Disappointingly though, Samsung has confirmed to Tom’s Guide that the Galaxy S8, S8+ and Note 8 will miss out on this new modernized and streamlined software experience.”

Samsung had earlier confirmed the older handsets will, however, get Android Pie, suggesting Samsung would have to go to extra effort to maintain two different versions of Android Pie for the higher-end handsets.

If the new user interface does not come to the S8 and Note 8 this may be a blessing in disguise, however, as the new simplified icons have been rather divisive and generally poorly received, despite the improvements in one-handed usage OneUI brings.

If true, how would our readers feel? Let us know below.
