The Snowden revelations has resulted in a great distrust in Germany in service which uses American infrastructure such as WhatsApp or Facebook Messaging. This has resulted in an attempt to create local services which are secure and do not travel outside of the country.
The result of one of these efforts is SIMSme, a secure and private messaging system with true end-to-end encryption — guaranteed by Deutsche Post, the German postal service.
SIMSme offers all the features that you have come to expect from a modern and advanced messaging app, and features:
- TRUE END-TO-END ENCRYPTION
Your data remains YOUR data. Messages are encrypted on the sender’s device and can only be decrypted on the recipient’s device. Even we, the operators, cannot view your messages on our own servers.
- FREE FOREVER
Save on fees compared to traditional SMS text messages or other messengers.
- SELF-DESTRUCTING MESSAGES
With SIMSme, you can either set an expiration date, or make your messages, photos or other content available only for a certain period of time. Our “self-destruction” feature serves to keep private matters truly private!
Now you can also send voicemail to your contacts – no eavesdropping possible!
Send photos, videos, contacts and locations – encrypted, of course!
- NO EXTRA PHONE BOOK
SIMSme uses your phone/address book to connect you to your contacts. The phone numbers in your phone book are anonymised and compared to our user database in an encrypted manner. A connection is only established if we can find both you and your contact on our service. Contacts who have not yet signed up to use SIMSme will never be saved on our server. Guaranteed.
- SERVERS LOCATED IN GERMANY
SIMSme’s servers are located in Germany and will stay there. Of course, this also means that your data will be handled in accordance with German Data Protection Guidelines!
SIMSme was awarded the “Trusted App” seal for highly secure apps by mediaTest digital in cooperation with TÜViT.
SIMSme is free and can be found in the Windows Phone Store here.Via
