Google has kicked off a regional blitz for its classroom chatbots. Schools across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa now use Gemini and NotebookLM. Teachers say the tools slash lesson-prep time and give students a hands-on view of large-language-model thinking.

In Helsingborg, Sweden, teachers feed Gemini prompts to produce reading sheets and quiz questions in minutes. They then spend the recovered hours on marking and small-group support.

Barton Peveril Sixth Form College in the UK gave every staff member a Gemini license. The college runs weekly workshops so teachers trade prompt ideas instead of drifting to riskier public chatbots.

Cheam Park Farm, a LEO Academy Trust primary, channels Gemini for parent-email triage. Vice Principal Emma Potter says a message that once took an hour now takes two minutes.

Universities also want early ground rules. The University of Jaén in Spain made Gemini free for its entire community and calls AI fluency an ethical duty. Cassino in Italy uses NotebookLM to build mind maps for dyslexic students and to speed paperwork searches. Ferrara adopts Gemini across departments, citing privacy guards baked into Google’s cloud.

Google frames the expansion as proof that its education model still holds even as independent AI rivals grow. Yet each campus now has the tougher job of setting policy before generative tools flood every assignment.

Students report quick gains: instant translations, worksheet summaries, and feedback that arrives before the next class. Google still blocks the bots from generating exam answers on demand, leaving grading in human hands for now.
