If you’re a mastermind with words, Wordrix is a fun way to show off how well you can recognize and create words from a given set of letters! And there’s a free version in addition to the paid $0.99 version!
Overall Score: 5/5
Wordrix takes a simple word puzzle game and expands on it with brilliant gameplay concepts, impressive lasting value, and good presentation!
In this word game, you are given a 5×5 grid of letters, and you have to draw out words from these letters such that the letters are touching each other. After you find a word, those letters disappear and new letters slide in from the top, so the game board is constantly changing. There are plenty of different gameplay modes to explore. You can play the game as a timed match, or where you try to reach a set score as fast as possible. Also, you can play in a unique online arena where everyone is given the same board letters at the beginning and all have the same amount of time to solve the puzzle. Once the time is over, everyone’s score who participated in that match is displayed and you find out the winner of the match. That online arena is a very fun way to compete with your friends and lengthen the lasting value of the game.
The visuals of the game are good, and it includes a number of different visual themes which is another plus. It also resumes to your current game correctly. However, the game lacks sound effects (except an end of time buzzer), so it is a bit quiet while you’re playing. Nevertheless, the presentation still feels good without the sounds.
Lasting Value: 5/5
This game has everything possible to extend lasting value. There’s daily and weekly online leaderboards to compete in. There’s leaderboards for who creates the biggest word. And then there’s the online arena, where you can play matches against real people who are also playing at the same time as you. You could even have your friends with WP7’s play along online and compete with their scores. There’s really nothing else that could extend the lasting value!
