Game Review: TriPeaks

TriPeaks is a different variation of Solitaire, and thanks to Jake Poznanski, it comes to WP7 as a fast loading, fluid, and polished game that is free to download!

Overall Score: 5/5

This is a perfect TriPeaks game, and it’s also free, and has great leaderboards, you can’t beat that!

Gameplay: 5/5

If you know how to play TriPeaks, you’ll feel right at home. If you’ve never played it before, the built-in instructions will teach you how to play in less than a minute. The scoring system is really fun since it pushes you to play as quickly as possible while stringing together as many card combos as possible. The controls are very easy to use and work perfectly. You can either double-click a card or drag it to its place, but double clicking is definitely the easiest and works perfectly. The menu interface is really easy to use and loads super fast.

Presentation: 4/5

The game looks extremely polished, it loads fast, and plays smoothly! There’s also sound effects if you turn them on in the menu. If you do happen to win a game, there’s a neat little winning animation at the end. The only thing keeping this game from a 5/5 in presentation is the lack of a “You Lose” screen. If you run out of possibilities, the end is sort of awkward since you have to return to the menu and click new game yourself. Otherwise, the game is very polished!

Lasting Value: 5/5

For a little card game, the developer does everything possible to extend the lasting value. The leaderboards feature weekly, all-time, and just me scores, so you can have fun competing with everyone. There’s also a Find Me button, so you can instantly see how you rank. The game also tracks your win and loss statistics, and shows you your win percentage, which is another fun feature that helps you keep playing the game. Those features extend the lasting value of the simple game as much as possible!
