Star Wars: Cantina is essentially Diner Dash for your phone, with Star Wars-themed characters!
For a mobile version of Diner Dash, Star Wars: Cantina remains challenging and exciting. However, it does suffer from slightly sub-par controls and occasionally jittery visuals.
The game starts off relatively easy, and becomes more challenging as more tables are added and you are required to juggle multiple customers at once. However, the controls are sometimes not responsive, and the proximity of your tables becomes too close on your small screen. These are only minor issues though, since the game does remain fun nevertheless.
The visuals are pretty simple and are effective as a cartoonish styled game, except they occasionally lag when you try to collect the bill from a party’s table. The sounds in the game are also nothing impressive. The game has a simple background soundtrack and does have auditory hints to help you notice when a table is calling for your attention, but those auditory hints honestly didn’t help much. In my opinion, it was definitely best to simply listen to your own music.
Lasting Value: 3/5
Completing the Career mode in the game will take you about 2 hours. To add to the replayability of the game, there is a Survival mode where you try to serve as many people until you loose. There are also Xbox Live achievements and leaderboards which may entice you to play the game more. But overall, once you get through the Career mode, you will most likely be tired of the game.
When you play the Career mode, there is a little simple story that explains who your character is and why she is serving tables at a restaurant. It is light in its tone and keeps the pace of the Career mode moving.
