Game Review: Splash!

In this game, you use a combination of your accelerometer and the touchscreen controls to maneuver your ball and splat other balls; simple and fun!

Overall Score: 4/5Splash

For such a simple game, Splash! ends up being pretty good. The gameplay is actually quite solid, and the presentation is pretty good.

Gameplay: 4/5

To move your silver ball, you simply tilt the phone. To splat the enemy balls and prevent them from hitting your silver ball, you tap the enemy balls. You can actually use up to four fingers to tap and splat the deadly balls all at once. The challenge of the game comes in when you get to later levels, and different unbreakable balls start to appear among other interesting power-ups. Also, the scoring system is really great since you get more points for breaking balls that are on their way to get you instead of breaking ones that are just forming. Overall, the gameplay is nice and fun.

Presentation: 4/5

The visuals definitely look good, but they don’t go so far as to extremely impress us. The sound effects are basic but serve as a nice audio hint as to when you splat a ball.

Lasting Value: 4/5

All you can do in the game is play again and again for a high score. The inclusion of achievements adds some extra replay value incentive. The gameplay is set up where the progressive challenge of higher levels entices you to play the game multiple times for better scores.
