Game Review: Manhattan 2020

Manhattan 2020 is a free old school-like arcade game where you pilot a man with a jetpack through a 2D city, avoiding obstacles like birds and helicopters.

Overall Score: 4/5

Simple yet fun, Manhattan 2020 is a great game to pick up and play in your free time. The lasting value is a little low, but otherwise it’s a pretty good game.

Gameplay: 4/5

The game does nothing incredible, but it does everything well. The pacing is fun yet difficult, and the controls work well. All you do is tap an on-screen button to thrust upwards with your jetpack, and you use that to maneuver past incoming birds and helicopters. It’s simple, fun, and addicting.

Presentation: 4/5

The game looks as it should (like an arcade game), and it has some good music to go along. The sound effects help warn you about the helicopters, which is a great touch.

Lasting Value: 3/5

While it does have a leaderboard, Manhattan 2020 doesn’t include weekly or monthly leaderboards, so the lasting value will truly depend on how addicted you are to the game. It could last you 10 minutes, or it could last you 5 hours. Nevertheless, more could have been done to make it last longer.
