Game Review: Hamsta Rocket

Hamsta Rocket is a simple and addicting game with some great 3D graphics.

Overall Score: 4/5HamstaRocket

The presentation in Hamsta Rocket is great, thanks to its 3D graphics and good sound effects, and the gameplay is satisfyingly challenging/addicting, but the lasting value is ultimately limited to your own desire to compete for high scores.

Gameplay: 4/5

The controls work really well: you move left and right by tilting the phone, and you tap/hold the screen to jump various distances. In this game, you have to run through a hamster wheel while avoiding objects and jumping over gaps in the wheel. Thanks to the power up and locations of obstacles/gaps, the game has a satisfying amount of variety. You even encounter rolling obstacles as you get further into the game. It is fun and addicting, but doesn’t do anything especially brilliant in the gameplay department.

Presentation: 5/5

Awesome 3D graphics. The game is smooth, the textures are high resolution, and the visuals look great. The sound effects in the game are also good and fit perfectly with the game’s theme, as does the music.

Lasting Value: 3/5

The lasting value is essentially limited to your own competitiveness in the game, since all you can do is compete for local high scores (no online leaderboards). Trying to beat your old high scores is fun, but it won’t last as long as other games will.
