Game Chest: Solitaire Edition is a fun trio of three different solitaire games that is sure to kill your lonely boredom (Video Review).
Overall Score: 4/5
Once Game Chest loads (I miss the old Windows Mobile 6.5 load speeds of Solitaire, which was instantaneous), their Solitaire Edition of games is classic yet fun to play. The visuals and gameplay are perfect for a Solitaire game.
You get three different types of Solitaire: The classic solitaire, Spider Solitaire, and Tri-Peaks. All three types have great controls and are fun to play. The only thing I find missing is a timer, so you can see how fast you beat your game of solitaire. That is always useful if you actually have friends around you (wait, why would you be playing solitaire…) and want to see who can win fastest. Otherwise, it keeps track of your stats in the menu (though it seems like it just records your average time).
The visuals are nice and give you some cool animated treats, like some dust floating off when you clear the deck of cards in solitaire. The sound effects are okay, clueing you into when your cards are being shuffled/handed out. However, there isn’t any music while you are playing, so you’ll have to listen to your own.
Lasting Value: 4/5
Solitaire can be addicting and fun to play at any time. The only thing that keeps this game from getting a perfect score here is its load time. You’ll have to wait a good half a minute for it to load unfortunately. But, once you’re into the game, everything’s fast as it should be. And there is also a neat score system where you can unlock these Pins if you accumulate some scores in your games, which entices you to play some more. Since there are three different solitaire games, that also helps the game last longer.
