Game Review: Bump Out

If you’re looking for a neat logic puzzle game, check out Bump Out in the Marketplace for free.

Overall Score: 4/5

With good gameplay, good presentation, and great lasting value, this becomes a puzzle game worth trying.

Gameplay: 4/5

In this game, you have to use logic to bump all but one of the soccer balls off the grid. At first, the levels begin very easy so you can learn how to play. After awhile, the game starts to become a lot tougher, and actually challenges you to think creatively in order to complete the levels. The game lets you skip 5 levels, so if you’re stuck, you can continue on with some new levels. Also, there is a Time Trial mode that changes up the gameplay and adds a new element of speed to the game. The gameplay would be perfect if the Time Trial mode didn’t repeat the existing 150 levels found in the main part of the game, but nevertheless it’s still fun.

Presentation: 4/5

Even though the visuals are simply average, the background music raises the presentation a step higher. The music is perfect for a puzzle game, and doesn’t ever sound repetitive, even though it is actually on a loop. It’d be nice if the app was Mango enabled, but hopefully that will be added in an update soon.

Lasting Value: 5/5

With 150 levels of increasing difficulty, you’ll likely have at least 6 hours of gameplay, depending on how smart you are of course! After that, the Time Trial mode is definitely worth checking out. Once you get good at the Time Trial, you can compete in the online leaderboards and try to improve your score. The scoring system in the Time Trial mode is, by the way, very great! There are daily, weekly, and all-time leaderboards, which are great for both beginners and experts.qrcode
