Solitaire is a free card game with a fluid interface and classic gameplay.

Overall Score: 4/5Solitaire

If you’re looking for a Solitaire game, this is probably one of the top picks from the Marketplace. It has all the solitaire features, decent controls, and good visuals, all for the price of free.

Gameplay: 4/5

The controls are pretty good in this game, but could use a few improvements. You can either drag and drop cards, click and place cards, or double tap cards to move them around. The tapping and placing controls are probably the best, since the dragging controls occasionally have the issue of not grabbing the card. This is because you have to grab cards from the upper left corner for some reason. You can use any control scheme at any time, so you will probably find yourself using a mixture of all three. These controls function well enough, but if they see an update, they will be perfect. The gameplay is great since it replicates solitaire perfectly, and includes the score and time meters. In addition to that, it also has the Vegas or Standard scoring system, and you can switch between one or three card draw. Overall it replicates solitaire extremely well, but could use some touching up on the controls.

Presentation: 5/5

The visuals in the game are simple, crisp, and clean. The animations between the menu and the game are fluidly fantastic. The resume speeds of the game are pretty fast, and it will resume your position perfectly. The game does completely lack sounds which hurts it slightly, but for a game like solitaire, sounds aren’t exactly necessary. The game actually has sound effects for drawing, placing, and picking up cards! They are simple but are a great auditory clue as to what is happening. To enable the sound effects, go to the main menu and click the tiny speaker icon in the lower right corner.

Lasting Value: 3/5

Play this as long as you can! The game features a win/loss tracker and a high score tracker, and since it is solitaire, you can play it infinitely, but since there aren’t any leaderboards or other forms of solitaire, the lasting value is slightly hurt. Yes, this is a free game and it does its job perfectly as a solitaire replica, but it could always do more. Nevertheless, it’s an awesome game to have!
